Academic IELTS Writing Task 1
Academic IELTS Writing Task 1 comprises of a single question. The suggested total duration of the task is 20 minutes and the word limit is 150 words. There will be a penalty for the candidates who write fewer than 150 words and more than 180 words.
There will be a graph, chart or table relating to a particular situation or a topic. The candidate need to describe it with high vocabulary, proper execution, and correct grammer to get better score. Only academic and neutral style is allowed.
The Academic IELTS writing task 1 is just like a General IELTS writing task 1. The only difference between Academic writing task 1 and General writing task 1 is, in academic writing task 1, the candidates need to define a graph, table or a diagram, whereas, in general writing task 1, the candidates need to write a letter to a concerned person.
Scoring & Marking:
The writing task 1 holds less marks than the writing task 2. The basis of the scoring of task 1 is on:

- Content Clarity
- Strong Vocabulary
- Correct Grammar Usage

In simple words, IELTS Writing Task 1 is a summary of a graphs, charts, maps, diagrams or tables. It is easier than the writing task 2.
